Abstract

|
Objectives: This study was conducted to understand the effect of dental hygienists' professional self-concept on the practice of dental hygiene, focusing on the mediating effect of empathy in the elderly.
Methods: This study was conducted with from the dental hygienists' in some areas of Busan and Gyeongnam.
Results: In the relationship between the dental hygienists' professional self-concept and the practice of dental hygiene for the elderly, the results of the empathy mediating effect of the elderly showed that it was completely mediated and meaningful.
Conclusions: Dental hygienists recognize the importance and necessity of empathy for the elderly. It is suggested to develop and participate in educational programs that can increase empathy.
